A carved oak longcase clock
The case with stepped top hood, arched trunk door and raised on bracket feet, elaborately carved to the front and to the sides of the trunk and plinth, the 11in. square cut-away brass dial with foliate spandrels to a replaced silvered Roman chapter ring bearing the signature London William Courter 1708, engraved with foliate scrolls, subsidiary seconds (lacks hand) and date rings crossing the dial at XII and VI respectively, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement; composite, case, dial and movement associated, case late 18th century and later carved -- 74¾in. (190cm.) high
