A Regency Scottish mahogany longcase clock, first quarter 19th century
The case with brass-capped swan-neck pediment to the hood, glazed side apnels and outset fluted columns, the three-quarter length trunk door with ebony line inlay and ivory escutcheon, flanked by fluted pilasters, the cross-banded plinth on stepped base, the 13in. white dial painted with a flowering basket to the arch and with conforming spandrels to the Roman chapter ring, subsidiary date and seconds ring to the centre, retouched signature YOUNG ST ANDREWS, with engraved gilt-brass hands, with falseplate stamped WALKER & HUGHES to the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 85¾in. (218cm.) high
