An Edwardian mahogany and inlaid quarter-chiming longcase clock, early 20th century
The case with swan-neck pediment and outset pressed gilt-brass fluted columns, with carved sound frets to the sides, the trunk door inlaid with floral designs in various woods and mock ivory, with conforming decoration to the trunk, raised on a wavy skirting, the 12½in. brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a Roman and Arabic chapter ring, with chime selection lever by III, matted centre with subsidiary seconds ring, chime/silent ring in the arch, the three train movement with deadbeat escapment, quarter chiming on eight bells or four gongs to the backboard and with hour strike on further gong -- 92in. (234cm.) high
