A George III Scottish oak and satinwood cross-banded longcase clock, late 18th century
The case with swan-neck pediment to the hood, outset fluted columns and lozenge sound frets to the sides, the cross-banded trunk door inliad with a classical urn and the plinth with a conch shell, on bracket feet (one lacking), the 13in. gilt-brass dial with cherub mask and foliate spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring with lozenge half hour markers, the centre engraved with a seconds ring and a sailing ship, later hands, the arch with silvered convex plaque signed J. Milne/MONTROSE, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement -- 90½in. (235cm.) high
