A mahogany and inlaid longcase clock
The case with conch shell patera to an arched cresting, outset stop-fluted columns with gilt-brass Corinthian capitals, the wavy arch trunk door with crossbanding and central shell patera, flanked by canted angles inlaid with mock stop-fluted pilasters and trailing bellflowers, inlaid with flowering vases below, the plinth with conforming shell inlay and resting on a later base, the 12½in. cut-away brass dial with replaced cherub and coronet spandrels to a silvered Roman and Arabic chapter ring signed John Brown/FERRY FECIT, the centre also silvered and engraved with foliate scrolls, with subsidiary seconds ring and demi-lune date aperture, blued steel hands, the arch with silvered convex plaque with repeat signature and slip engraved TEMPUS FUGIT IRREPARABILE, the four pillar rack striking movement with anchor escapement, with later seatboard and built up cheekboards; associated, case late 18th century, dial and movement 19th century -- 93in.
