West Persia, circa 1880
The plain ivory field around a stepped brick-red hexagonal medallion containing floral motifs, similar pendants above and below with continuing bands of floral sprays, the prounounced linked indigo stepped spandrels forming an arched panel at each end containing diagonal rows of polychrome flowerheads, in a brick-red turtle-palmette and flowering vine border between pistachio-green floral meander, indigo angular meander and minor reciprocal stripes, a kilim strip at one end
