AN ENGLISH BACKSWORD with tapering blade back-edged towards the point and with narrow fuller extending nearly the whole length on each side, iron 'mortuary' hilt composed of narrow flat bars and hand-guard roughly chiselled with monster's heads and foliage, globular pommel roughly chiselled with foliage, and wooden grip with later leather and wire-binding (some pitting overall), mid-17th Century; and a sword in Medieval style, the broad tapering double-edged blade with central fuller on each face of the forte and inlaid in copper with a Y mark on on side, downcurved quillons with fish-tail shaped ends, large wheel-shaped pommel, and bottle-shaped leather-covered wooden grip (leather incomplete)
