A BREECH-LOADING WALKING-STICK AIR RIFLE in two sections, the sighted lower section rifled and with button trigger, the muzzle and engraved breech section with screw-on brass cap, the latter with loading aperture and engraved 'Improved Air Cane', the upper section forming the reservoir and engraved 'London' at the base, and with brass screw-on cap and ivory handle, painted black overall (minor chips): in original brass-mounted fitted mahogany case lined in plum velvet (some compartments damaged) with accessories including spare smooth-bore barrel, loading key, dismantling tools, browned twist brass-mounted foot pump, two brass-mounted wooden fishing darts each with blued steel three-barbed point, and printed Directions For Using The Improved Air Cane Guns, the lid (cracked, brass escutcheon missing) with trade label of Henry Tatham, No. 37, Charing Cross, London, circa 1850
