A SCARCE FLINTLOCK BAKER RIFLE made for an officer of a volunteer regiment, with rebrowned twist leaf-sighted barrel rifled with nine grooves, hook-breech with shaped gold-lined maker's stamp, gold line and vent, foliate engraved tang, flat bevelled lock (cock an old replacement) with gold-lined maker's stamp, gold-lined rainproof pan, and roller, the tail engraved with a trophy of arms, and with sliding safety-catch also locking the steel, figured walnut full stock with cheek-piece, chequered grip and fore-end, brass mounts (originally gilt) including large hinged patch-box cover engraved with a bugle of a volunteer regiment and a trophy of arms, butt-plate incorporating the patch-box release button, and spur trigger-guard each engraved with a trophy of arms, silver escutcheon engraved with owner's initials, brass fore-end cap, iron sling swivels, and original iron ramrod, by Brander & Potts, London, London proof marks, circa 1805; and a brass-mounted cow-horn powder-flask
