A FINE NEAPOLITAN MIQUELET-LOCK SPORTING GUN with three-stage twist barrel octagonal then fluted at the breech and retaining traces of the original blue, with gold fore-sight, and two gold-lined stamps of the Naples Royal Manufactory within twenty-seven smaller gold-lined stamps, gold-lined vent, tang chiselled in low relief with strapwork on a gilt fish-roe ground, engraved flat bevelled lock with a further gold-lined stamp of the Royal factory and engraved on the inside with the number 25(?), figured walnut full stock cut with basketwork chequering on the grip and fore-end, iron mounts chiselled with stylised scallop designs and with flowers and foliage in relief on a gilt fish-roe ground, two barrel-bands also chiselled on a gilt fish-roe ground, cheek-piece, and original ivory-tipped whalebone ramrod, early 19th Century
