(Spotted, occasional old dampstaining.) Original cloth-backed glazed-paper wrappers, decorative lithographed title on upper cover (soiled, extremities worn).
A fine collection of views by the 'Artist of the Expedition', recording scenes encountered by Commodore Perry on his famous embassy to Japan. Plate 5 apparently includes a back-view self-portrait of Heine sketching.
