AM ORMOLU-MOUNTED FRENCH WHITE BISCUIT GROUP OF LA TOILETTE DE VENUS after the original model by Boizot, the goddess seated with a drape over her thigh, being offered love-birds by one of her attendants draped in a rose-garland, another dressing her hair and the third taking roses from a coffer, one cherub tying her sandal as another holds up a shell-tray, the figures seated and kneeling on billowing clouds on a waisted circular base moulded with flowerheads and chain-pattern. mounted on an ormolu stand cast and pierced with foliage-scrolls and flowers (part of rose-garland lacking, long chip to one maidens' left foot and to petals), incised interlaced L mark and script, dated 1768, late 19th Century
