Lot Essay

The opening folio is inscribed by A.G.Ellis, the author of the Catalogue of Arabic Books in the British Museum, 1894, and dated 21.8.(19)07.

The author coming from a noble family of Lucknow was commissioned by Lt.Col. Scott on behalf of Lord Wellesley, Govenor General of the East India Company to travel in different parts of Punjab, Afghanistan and regions of Transoxania and to make a thorough report of the state of affairs in those regions.
