The nickel plated ultra prima chronometer movement with monometallic balance timed to six positions and jewelled to the centre, with separate dust cover, the matt silvered dial, signed also by the retailer Chas. Greig & Son Johannesburg, with raised stylised Arabic numerals, subsidiary seconds and blued steel hands, the gold waisted case with rare raised ribs to the shoulders, domed glass and snap on back, with maker's original presentation box, case, dial and movement signed

Lot Essay

This type of case with raised ribs is much rarer than the two colour gold striped Princes and was made by pressing the raised ribs into the top cover from underneath, so that the ribs are also visible on the inside of the case.
