A note in Peter Langford Brooke's account book on 13 September 1830 reads 'picture di Grotto - 4-8-0', presumably referring to his purchase of this picture. Another reference in February the previous year to 'Mr Abbate for picture 17-0-0' may also refer to dealings with the artist.
