BOUCHARD, Alain. Les croniques Annalles des pays dangleterre et bretaigne, contenant les faictz et gestes des roys et princes qui ont regne oudit pays. Paris: Antoine Couteau for Jean Petit and Galliot Du Pré, September 1531.

2° (322 x 210mm). Title in red and black with elaborate architectural woodcut border (neat repair at inner margin), 12 large woodcut illustrations, woodcut initials, colphon with woodcut device of Du Pré. (A few leaves, inlcuding title, trimmed at upper margin, mainly affecting first three quires, some light staining.) 19th-century green morocco, covers with gilt fillets, spine gilt in six compartments with raised bands, gilt dentelles by Lorsellier (extremities very lightly rubbed).

Third edition of Bouchard's chronicle, extended to the year 1531, and the first to bear the author's name. The present copy, like that recorded by Brunet, has Du Pré's device at the end of the colophon: the woodcut border on the title also incorporates his name, rather than that of Petit as recorded in the Fairfax-Murray copy, where the setting of the title also differs. Brunet I, 1147; Davies Murray French I, 56, Adams B-2567.
