1988: the first of an unprecedented trio of great Sauternes vintages. The hot dry Summer and early Autumn ensured that the grapes had a high sugar content. Early October humidity encourage Pourriture noble. The result, a perfect harvest.
Guiraud: the best wine produced at this notable château for many years. Immensely sweet, honeyed yet with a firm counter-balancing acidity giving the wine a pleasantly crisp, dry finish. Will keep well. J.M.B.
