Bow rests play a similar, but more significant, role to the staffs distributed by the Luba king to titleholders and territorial chiefs, bilolo, and are therefore more rare. Nooter (1992, no.173) illustrates a similar bow rest purchased by the Museum für Völkerkunde, Berlin, from Leo Frobenius in 1904
