manuscript on ivory paper, 152ff. plus three flyleaves, each with 21ll. of flowing black naskh, punctuation in red, gold roundels between verses, gold margins between black rules, illuminated marginal medallions marking the divisions of text, gold outer margin between black rules, sura headings in red on gold cartouches in illuminated panels, (negligible smudging and staining), gold and polychrome illuminated opening bifolio (re-bound), penultimate folio signed by Ibn Muhammad and dated Dhu'l-Qa'ada 1221, light brown lacquer binding painted with polychrome floral sprays within burgundy ground floral border (crackelure, small areas of restoration, relacquered), red lacquer doublures with gold scrolling flowering vine in black border (small cracks)
