A GROUP OF THREE RARE ROMANO-BRITISH PEWTER PLATES, the largest with incised decoration in the centre consisting of a star-flower within a circle with notched background, a broad band surrounding the circle containing notched lines forming a wave pattern, the rim with depressed grooves and incised bands, shallow ring base on underside (dented), 19½in. (49.5cm.) diam.; another plain plate with raised rim and shallow ring on underside, 17¾in. (45cm.) diam.; and another similar, smaller (with slight damage), 11in. (28cm.) diam. all 4th Century A.D.
