1950 2-LITRE BRISTOL 401 TWO DOOR SPORTS SALOON
Registration No.
Chassis No.
Engine No.
Unpainted with beige leather interior
Right hand drive.
The 401 had a production run of a mere 650 in the 1949-53 period. The chassis and engine were derived from the marvellous pre-war BMW 327/80 with the body styled by Touring of Milan, whose Superleggera patents for aluminium panels over steel tube construction were also used by Aston Martin. Bristol's experience in aircraft manufacture resulted in a remarkably refined and aerodynamic 100mph touring car.
This unrestored example was owned by one family for over 30 years. The only parts missing appear to be the lights and a distributor. It does have some new chrome bumpers and wheel discs offered with the lot. The bodywork like the interior and woodwork is showing its age and is fraying at the edges. The mechanical condition of the vehicle is unknown, but is fitted with the correct 85bhp six-cylinder engine.
