A Very Rare 16-Bore Three-Barrel Percussion Sporting Gun

With twist barrels (some rust-staining and spotting) in clover-leaf formation signed in full on the elevated top rib and with silver fore-sight, scroll engraved patent breeches each with removable pierced iron plug, long scroll engraved tang retained by two screws and finely engraved with a dog's head within a circular medallion, scroll engraved back-action locks each with a differing pointer in a landscape on the tail, the pointers captioned respectively 'Doll' and 'Don', the right lock signed in script, and the left in capital letters, engraved flat hammers each with detachable nose retained by a blued spring-catch, figured walnut butt (stained, minor bruising), chequered semi-pistol grip, iron mounts engraved with scrollwork and game birds and retaining traces of original blued finish (some wear and surface pitting), three triggers, the front one hinged, and original brass-mounted ramrod, London proof marks

Samuel Nock (d. 1851) was at the Regent Circus address between 1823 and 1852. He held appointments successively to Kings George III (1805), George IV (1822) and William IV (1830), and to Queen Victoria (1837)
