A Rare 32-Bore French Breech-Loading Flintlock Pistol On The La Chaumette System
By Jean(?) Brion, Paris, circa 1725
With tapering barrel flat on the top and with baluster moulding at the muzzle, plain tang, engraved flat bevelled lock signed within a cartouche and with stepped tail, moulded walnut half-stock (butt repaired) lightly carved in relief with foliage, pierced and engraved brass side-plate, large brass pommel in the form of a bird's head, and iron trigger-guard engraved with a sun in splendour and a trophy of the chase (some wear throughout)
