With swamped two-stage barrels each with a band of engraved ornament at the rear of the octagonal breech and with brass spider fore-sight, the breech plugs each signed on the front flat (see detail opposite), engraved tangs, signed rounded locks each with moulded border, the pans each with water-drains and a raised lip fitting into the pan-cover, moulded figured walnut full stocks lightly carved in relief with foliage, fire-gilt bronze mounts finely cast and chased in relief with grotesque masks, foliage, cornucopiae, and figures of Fame and Victory, solid side-plates, pommels terminating in lion-masks, pierced escutcheons each with coronet above, blued side-nails, triggers, and trigger-plates, and original brass-capped ramrods, in very fine, probably unused condition throughout
