A SWISS PARCEL-ENAMELLED GOLD SNUFF-BOX SET WITH A MINIATURE
Geneva, circa 1780/1790, with prestige marks including a pseudo-discharge mark of Julien Berthe, later struck with two French import marks for gold 1864-1893
Oval box, the cover, sides and base engraved with guilloché panels of a vertical coin pattern framed by flutes, the horizontally reeded borders and four side pilasters parcel-enamelled in translucent orange and with raised roses and leaves, the lid centred by an oval enamel plaque finely painted with the Triumph of Cupid, the young god seated on a golden chariot drawn by a pair of doves against an architectural and landscape background, within a reeded gold mount
