A SWISS ENAMELLED GOLD AND HARDSTONE SNUFF-BOX
probably Geneva, circa 1800, struck with a French import mark 1838-1864
Oval box, the cover and base of brown jasper mounted à jour within blue enamelled gold rims, the gold sides enamelled with white bands embellished with scrolling foliage and birds, the lid inset with a mandorla-shaped convex enamel plaque depicting Rebecca at the Well, within a gold frame set with white enamel pellets and surrounded by a blue enamel outer border
