A Meissen group of two Orientals
19th century, marked with underglaze blue crossed swords
After a model probably by Elias Meyer (1745), gilt and painted in colours, modelled as a seated Oriental wearing; a lilac-lined loose yellow garment decorated with flowers, a multicoloured feathery conical hat and green slippers, holding a pot serving as a candleholder in his left hand, his right hand holding the cover and leaning on a rocaille shield, further with an elegant female servant standing behind him, wearing a flower-enhanced lilac garment and holding an umbrella with ormolu rod over her master's head, on rectangular purple base (one finger of servant missing, chip to umbrella)
