A Meissen figure of Julius Caesar from "The Four Monarchies" series Circa 1766, marked with blue crossed swords above a star and Pressnummer 70
Modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler, gilt and painted in colours, the grey-haired and bearded Caesar with laurel wreath, representing Rome and its Empire, wearing; a lilac cloak, a metal breast-plate moulded with a double-headed eagle, a blue tunic with lilac straps, ochre breeches, sandals and a large sword at his left side, a seated mythological dog with horns flanking him, on circular scroll base (chips and restorations to his left hand and the head of the dog)
