A Meissen figure of Alexander the Great from "The Four Monarchies" series Circa 1767
Modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler, gilt and painted in colours, the standing helmetted Alexander representing Greece, wearing; a pink-lined light-green cloak, a darkened silvered breast-plate moulded to the front with a bundle of thunderbolts, to the right with a lion and to the left with a bull, further wearing; a yellow tunic with blue straps, blue breeches, sandals and a sword at his left side, a quadricephal panther seated to his right, on circular scroll base (the handle of the sword missing, restoration to his nose, the right arm kept apart)
