A large Meissen-patterned figural mythological wall clock and console
Late 19th century
Gilt and painted in colours, the oval clock modelled with a central boss moulded with basket-woven cornflowers around a metal-mounted dial with Arabic and Roman chapter rings, flanked by two nude winged putti to the sides, crowned by the large figure of Father Time (Chronos), represented as a scantily clad winged old bearded man, seated against a background of scrolling waves and various naturalistically modelled shells, the lower part with Neptune seated in a shell-shaped carriage holding a helmet, flanked by an overflowing vase and high bullrushes to the sides, the console modelled to fit with the Neptune figure, with a central Triton holding a shell-horn in his right hand, flanked by four hippocampi jumping forward, above various naturalistically modelled large shells and corals in front of a leaf background (small restorations)
