FIRST EDITION. A remarkably fresh and clean copy in its original binding associated with the Koberger workshop. The question of a "Koberger" binding is more complex than identifying a single shop, and M. Rozsondai, among others, has examined the sharing of stamps among binders or shops employed specifically to bind for Koberger. These bindings of the Klotz Chronicon illustrate this sharing. At least 3 stamps belong to both Kyriss shop 115 and 65, the latter identified as the Nuremberger binder Franz Staindorffer. In addition, they have a pierced heart stamp found on other bindings from K115, a shop named the Nuremberger "Böhmischer Meister" (Schwenke-Sammlung, Herz 51a; see M. Rozsondai, "Über die 'Koberger-Einbände'", Gutenberg-Jahrbuch 1974, pp.311-323). HC *1159; GW 2072; BMC II, 426 (IC. 7320); Goff A-778; Pellechet 813; Polain(B) 234; IDL 327; IGI 608; BSB A-563 (3)
