2° (312 x 204mm). Title in red and black, engraved title, folding engraved map of the Caspian Sea, and 19 folding engraved plates, mainly town views, by C. Decker and J. Kip. (Upper inner margin of engraved title and forward neatly reinforced, both leaves browned, two plates browned and spotted.) Old half mottled sheep over marbled boards, spine gilt in six compartments with yellow leather lettering-piece (corners rubbed, lower section of front joint split).

FIRST EDITION IN GERMAN of Struys's voyages. Struys travelled to Japan on his first journey (1647-1655); in the following two years he travelled the Mediterranean, and then, on his third and last voyage, between 1668 and 1673, visited Russia, Persia and Arabia. The last part of the work is an extract of a letter by David Butler, from Astrakhan in 1669. Struys returned ot the Netherlands in 1673, and later went to live in Dithmarschen, near Hamburg.
