HENRY, PATRICK, Virginia Patriot. Printed document signed ("P.Henry") as Governor, Richmond, Va., 4 August 1785. 1 page, oblong folio, ON PARCHMENT, 313 x 415 mm. (12 3/8 x 16¼ in.), papered seal of the Commonwealth at lower left, accomplished in manuscript. Governor Henry grants to one Standish Ford a tract of 7700 acres "by Survey," "lying...in the County of Monogalia [present-day West Virginia], with a detailed description of the tract's boundaries.
While he never served in the Continental Congress, Henry was one of the most influential political figures in the Revolutionary cause. He was Governor from 1776 to 1779 then again from 1784-1786, during which term he signed the present grant.
