A FINE AND VERY RARE FAMILLE ROSE 'PRONK' BALUSTER CISTERN after a design by the Dutch draftsman Cornelis Pronk, finely and delicately enamelled on each side with a lady washing her hands in a bowl being held by a boy attendant, a second lady holding a towel beside them, an exotic long-tailed bird in horizontal flight above them and a blue and white striped serpent in the grass below, the figures divided by exotic flowering branches, the shoulder with a shaped gilt band reserved with a continuous ruyi scroll, the foot with a band of pale green trellis-pattern reserved with quatrefoil motifs, one side with an original hole to accommodate a tap (minor gilding rubbing, replaced tap), circa 1738
