Of curved oblong form, engraved with six engine-turned panels, the cover and base with rayed grounds emanating from semi-circles with foliate scroll borders, the sides with an upper border of geometric design with flowerheads at intervals and a panel of stylised lotus leaves above the hinge, 3 3/8in. (8.6cm.) long

Lot Essay

Jean Gabriel Moynier joined the most distinguished partnership of gold box makers, Moulinié et Bautte, in 1804, but his name was not added in full until 1808.
