Depicting Sculpture worshiping Love attended by Cupid and standing on an oval pedestal incorporating the circular enamelled dial with Roman chapters, with silk-suspended pendulum, on stepped oval base edged with beading on turned feet

Lot Essay

Nicolas-Joseph Rabut, maiître in 1762, is recorded at rue Michel le Comte and also referred to by Baron Ch. Davillier in his Le Cabinet du duc d'Aumont et les Amateurs de son temps, Catalogue de sa vente avec les prix..., Paris 1870, p.28. as 'Rabut', Ciseleur, et doreur, rue Neuve des Petits-Champs.
