A VISIGOTHIC GILT BRONZE BELT BUCKLE
circa early 6th century a.d.
The basal cube of the tongue set with a red-glass cabochon, a hook below for attachment to the oval loop, both joined to the rectangular attachment plate by loops soldered to the side, the box-like plate with all-over cloisonné centered around a rectangle of faceted red-brown glass surrounded by inlays of flat red-brown and green glass and bone, the corners with rivets for attachment to the back-plate
