A GOTHIC BRONZE BELT BUCKLE
circa late 5th-early 6th century a.d.
With an oval loop hollowed below, and a hooked tongue with a square base, a hook below for attachment to the loop, both joined to the rectangular buckle-plate by folded flaps, the plate with circular collars at the corners set with flat yellow-green glass, the center with a circular collar set with a blue glass cabochon, the field filled with concentric rectangular bands of scrolling
