A VISIGOTHIC GILT BRONZE BELT BUCKLE
circa early 6th century a.d.
The tongue with a rectangular basal cube, a hook below for attachment to the oval loop, an incised leaf pattern on the sides, both joined to a folded flap now detached from the rectangular attachment plate, the box-like plate with a raised rectangular collar in the center set with a green-stained bone inlay, a small blue glass inlay in its center, surrounded by all-over cloisonné inlaid with flat red (imitating garnet) and green glass, blue glass cabochons at the corners, iron rivets at each corner for attachment to the back-plate
