Lot Essay

Archimede Seguso's innovative interpretation of traditional Venetian filigree work is evident in his glass creations of the early 1950s. Used for the first time in 1951, Seguso's application of the merletto technique, in conjunction with the incalmo technique or with windows (clear areas within the glass wall), earned him recognition among Venetian master glass-blowers.
