The six paintings form a part of a set depicting Dalai Lamas and their former incarnations, all placed in a mountainous landscape, the inscriptions at the bottom yield pious verses, all with tie-dyed silk veil, each upper border of the fine brocate mounting has a label with short inscription in dBu.med script mentioning the name of the depicted figure and his position in the sequence:
1. (right 1st) Avalokiteshvara is seated on a lotus base, his right hand holding shawl, his left the stem of lotus, an attendant, the upper section with Amitabha and Buddha Shakyamuni, the lower part with Sadbhujamahakala and an offering dish
2. (right 2nd) Srong.btsan.sgam.po (617-650) is seated on a throne, his right hand holds a lotus, the left the ratna, wearing various richly decorated garments, crown with small head of Amitabha, the upper section with perhaps Shankara and Ekadashalokeshvara, flanked by his Nepalese and Chinese wives, lower border with Vaishravana and perhaps Thon.mi.sam.bho.ta
3. (left 1st) Mentioning rGyal.sras.dkon.mchog.'bans; depicting Khri.srong.lde.btsan (r. 775-797), seated on a throne, his left hand holding manuscript, wearing various garments, the upper section with perhaps Shantirakshita and a dakini, the lower part with the white Cintamanimahakala
4. (right 3rd) Sa.chen.kun.dga'.snyin.po (1092-1158) is seated on a large cushion, his right hand holding lotus flower, the left in varadamudra, in front a table with many offerings, the upper part with Hevajra and probably the mahasiddha Birvapa, a monastery below and the lower border with Mahakala
5. (left 4th) Mentioning dByangs.can.bshad.pa; depicting the 2nd Dalai Lama dGe.'dun.rgya.mtsho (1475-1542), seated on a cushion, his right hand in vitarkamudra, the left holding manuscript, wearing various garments and specific cap, the upper part with probably Pan.chen.bsod.nams.phyogs.glang and Cakrasamvara, the lower section with Shri Devi and Beg.tse
6. (left 9th) The 4th Dalai Lama, rGyal.ba.yon.rtan.rgya.mtsho (1589-1617), is seated on a cushion placed on an elaborate throne, his right hand with kapala, the left raised, wearing garments and specific cap, the upper section with Pan.chen.blo.bzang.chos.rgyal (1569-1662), Sadbhujamahakala and Yama, opposite the Dalai Lama the monastery Sera and the lower part with Yama and his sister Yami standing on the bull
