DOMAINE AUVIGUE, BURRIER ET REVEL
This is a medium-sized country wine-merchant, with close links to superb vineyards, located at the foot of the Pouilly-Fuissé hills. The Vieilles Vignes cuvée is consistently their best, coming from two Domaine Auvigue plots, and a vineyard belonging to the Revel family, in Solutré and Pouilly. All are south-east facing, which ensures good balancing acidity. Vinification took place in one-, two-, and three-year-old barrels (nothing new). 1993 white Burgundies were generally austere when youthful, however those made from properly ripened grapes, like this one, have matured superbly.
