1908 would be considered the milestone year in the entire history of the Ford Motor Company because of the introduction of the Model T. However, the year began quietly with the company offering only the Model R and the Model S, both of which sold new for $700. They were considered intermediate models and thought to include the finest attributes of Models N and R. The Model S would be the last "right hand drive" Ford.

The N was the "no frills" model and the R was created to have a more
pretentious appearance with broad fenders, larger wheels and a slightly larger body. In order to meet the tremendous demand for affordable transportation, Henry Ford decided to literally combine parts from both models. The Model S had the standard chassis and four-cylinder engine, same as the Model R, with an improved three feed mechanical oiler, lamps horn and storage battery equipment. The body was improved by slightly raising the larger front seats and placing them farther away from the dash. The Model S was touted as being a delightful combination of the two most popular models, superior for comfortable touring and for ease of repair and maintenance.

Mr. Williams used this lovely little machine on two Georgia Glidden Tours, one Michigan Glidden Tour and several Brass and Gas Tours. The Model S is eligible for many Brass era events.
