The slender, oval-section inro decorated with the figures of a monkey trainer, in Portuguese costume, and a monkey on a red lacquer ground, the figures rendered in togidashi, hiramaki-e, hirame, kirigane and aogai and the rope above them rendered in gold hiramakie-, the red ground embellished with kimpun and the interior cases nashiji; fitted with a coral bead ojime and lacquer manju netsuke decorated with colored brocade panels in iro-e hiramaki-e, kirigane and aogai--3 7/8 in. (10 cm.) high
