Formed as an apple, the bowenite body applied with gemset gold-mounted silver calyx and a silver-gilt caterpillar emerging to one side of the stem, the latter enamelled in translucent green and brown with a cabochon ruby finial, forming the handle of the brush, marked on brush mount
