A Viennese gilt-copper and enamel nef
Circa 1880
Each mast with a small sail headed by a flag finial above a crow's nest, attached to the deck by rope ladders with sailors, each mast with a fully open sail decorated to both sides with mythological scenes, joined by arched bridges, the deck with working and drinking sailors, flanked by the pierced bridge and a barrel house, the bow and stern decorated with scrolling foliage and with an anchor to the side, the stern with a domed shed, surmounted by a finial and flag, on an ovoid body with mythological scenes, the stem as two seated mermaids, on a domed heaxagonal socle, with similar decoration, on a serpentine base, headed by six seated musicians and six standing female figures
