A RARE EUROPEAN-SUBJECT PAINTED ENAMEL WINE EWER AND COVER
EARLY QIANLONG

The tapering body divided into six lobes, two lobes on each side painted in a famille rose palette with a European figure within a landscape setting, two depicting women, one an elderly man, the fourth a young man holding a cross and accompanied by a fabulous beast, within shaped panels reserved on yellow diaper and dark turquoise foliate grounds, the ear-shaped handle and the curved spout issuing from panels of blossoming or fruiting branches and decorated with lotus scroll, all below a band of composite foliate scroll on the neck, the domed cover painted with a multi-colored flowerhead below a knop finial (some restoration)
