CIRCA 1773, WITH FAINT PAINTER'S MARKS, ONE INCISED PET, THE OTHER CP

Each of campana form with scroll loop handle, divided horizontally with a gilt line, the upper part painted in colours with an oval panel of a putto on a cloud within a gilt band and flanked by berried wreaths suspended from the blue rim gilt with a foliate vine and oulined with a gilt scroll, the lower part with a crowned monogram 'CL' formed of pink roses and blue cornflowers, discolouration to one gilt footrim

Lot Essay

The present ice cups are from a service presented by Louise XV to his sister-in-law Maria Carolina of Naples, Queen of Naples known in France as Charlotte Louise.
