FIRST EDITION, one of 450 copies on Batchworth paper of an edition of 500, PRESENTATION COPY TO RICHARD HENRY STODDARD (poet, critic, and editor), inscribed by the author on front free endpaper: "To R.H. Stoddard with sincere regards of E.A. Robinson. December 12, 1900." Laid in original envelope pasted to inside front cover is an autograph letter signed from Robinson to Stoddard, Yonkers, 12 December 1900, 1 page, 8vo, integral blank leaf: "At the Authors Club last Thursday evening you were good enough to express a willingness to look over a book of mine. I send the book, which is called The Children of the Night by this mail, with the hope that you may find one or two things of interest in it..." Hogan, p. 4.
