Paulette Goddard (1911-1990), known for her vivacious, spirited personality, began her show-business career as a Ziegfeld girl. She gained notoriety when she met, and secretly married Charlie Chaplin in 1932. Chaplin was said to be completely enamoured by her physical beauty, and her sharp sense of humor. Although she starred in several of his films, most significantly, Modern Times, and The Great Dictator, she reached the pinnacle of success in her film career through her affiliation with Paramount Studios in the 1940s.
Paulette Goddard was a voracious collector of jewelry, and in addition to commissioning pieces from some of the foremost designers of her time, among them Paul Flato, she studied jewelry design under Billy Seymour.
